IRS Certifying Acceptance Agent

ITIN applications, without mailing your passport

We prepare your Form W-7, verify your identity documents in person and submit everything to the IRS for you, in English or Spanish.

What is an ITIN?

An ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) is a nine-digit number the IRS issues to people who need to file or be included on a U.S. tax return but aren’t eligible for a Social Security number. It always begins with the number 9.

An ITIN is for tax purposes only. It doesn’t authorize work in the U.S. or provide eligibility for Social Security benefits.

Who needs one?

  • Workers and business owners who aren’t eligible for a Social Security number
  • Spouses and dependents listed on a U.S. tax return
  • Nonresidents with U.S. income or a U.S. filing requirement
  • Anyone whose ITIN has expired and needs to renew it

Why use a CAA

Keep your passport. Skip the stress.

A Certifying Acceptance Agent is authorized by the IRS to verify your documents, so your originals never leave your hands for long.

Applying on your own

  • Mail your original passport to the IRS and wait weeks to get it back
  • Fill out Form W-7 yourself, where small mistakes can mean a rejection
  • Navigate IRS instructions on your own

With Lucero Tax & Multiservices LLC

  • Your originals are verified in our office and handed back the same day
  • We prepare your W-7 and check every detail before it goes out
  • Personal guidance in Spanish or English from start to finish

We send your application to the IRS, usually with your tax return. Your ITIN letter arrives by mail.

What to bring

  • A valid passport

The only document that proves both identity and foreign status on its own.

  • Or two other current IDs

For example a national ID card, foreign driver’s license or civil birth certificate. At least one should have a photo.

  • Your tax information

Most ITIN applications are filed with a federal tax return, which we can prepare for you.

Applying for dependents? Children usually also need proof of U.S. residency, such as school or medical records. Call us and we’ll confirm exactly what your family needs.
